WHY CLEANING YOUR CARPETS IS IMPORTANT
Not just for looks here are the reason why keeping your carpets clean is good for your health!

This week in our Blog we take a peek at these reasons and you will see the dark side to your carpet and why cleaning them by a professional helps keep your family safe and sound.

The health benefits of cleaning you carpets are often underestimated, including the removal of bacteria, dust mite, dead skin particles, and other chemicals and germs which get carried onto carpets from outside into your family home everyday.

Dirty carpet increases the wear and tear on the pile so cleaning your carpet at least once a year means your carpet will last longer. Vacuuming regularly will go along way to prolong the life of your carpet not to mention the health benefits.  Skin cells and scales, commonly called dander, are often concentrated in lounging areas, mattresses, frequently used furniture and associated carpeted areas, often harbour large numbers of these microscopic mites. And since the average human sloughs off 10 grams of dead skin a week it gives dust mites a lot to eat. If you have cats or dogs in your family home they can create far more dander for dust mites to eat.

A typical mattress can contain tens of thousands of dust mites. Sick yet? Nearly 100,000 mites can live in one square yard of carpet. Ready to convince your spouse to start bathing regularly? Did you know a single dust mite produces about 20 waste droppings each day, each containing a protein to which many people are allergic. The proteins in that combination of faeces and shed skin are what cause allergic reactions in humans. Depending on the person and exposure, reactions can range from itchy eyes to asthma attacks. And finally, unlike other types of mites, house dust mites are not parasites, since they only eat dead tissue. Gross, but true.

Having your carpets professionally cleaned every 10-12 months will ensure the best living conditions for your family.
